Your content
You are responsible for what you post. You keep any rights you have in it. By posting a note, you let us store it and show it to anyone who opens its link, because that is how the service works.
Remember what a note is:
- Anyone with the link can open it, unless you lock it for viewing with a PIN.
- A note without a PIN can also be edited by anyone with the link.
- Notes are not end-to-end encrypted. Don't post passwords, keys or anything you can't afford to have seen.
What you may not do
- Post anything illegal, or anything that infringes someone else's rights, such as copyright or privacy.
- Post sexual content involving minors. We remove it and may report it.
- Use ShareNotes to spread malware, run phishing or scams, or send spam.
- Harass or threaten people, or post someone else's personal information without their permission.
- Attack, overload or probe the service, or try to get around its limits: the rate limits, the wrong-PIN limit, or the daily limit for AI assistants.
- Edit or deface other people's notes because their link reached you.
We may remove any note, and limit or block access to the service, when we think these rules are being broken. We can do this without notice and without explanation.
Reporting a note
To report a note that breaks these rules, send its link through the Suggestion box in the site header, and say what is wrong with it.
No guarantees
ShareNotes is provided as is and as available, free of charge and without warranties of any kind. In particular:
- Notes can disappear. They expire on their timer, and notes with no timer are deleted after 6 months without a visit. A note can also be lost through an error or outage. ShareNotes is not a backup, so keep your own copy of anything that matters.
- The service may be unavailable, change, or stop altogether, including the API and the MCP server and their limits.
- We don't check what people post, and we aren't responsible for notes written by others.
Use at your own risk
ShareNotes is free, and you use it entirely at your own risk.
To the fullest extent the law allows, ShareNotes and the team who runs it are not liable for anything that results from using ShareNotes or from being unable to use it, however it happens. That includes lost or deleted notes, outages, notes read or edited by anyone who had the link, and anything you do based on a note's content. Where the law does not allow liability to be excluded completely, it is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.
Privacy
What we store, log and share is described in the privacy policy.
Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we change this page and the date at the top. Continuing to use ShareNotes after a change means you accept the new terms.
